Blue Mountain Center Application for 2020 Residencies

The Blue Mountain Center is a working community of writers, artists, activists and musicians in the heart of Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. 

Established creative and non-fiction writers, artists not requiring exceptional facilities, and working activists are eligible applicants. Residents are chosen by an Admissions Committee of accomplished authors and artists. The committee is particularly interested in fine work which evinces social and ecological concern and is aimed at a general audience. International applicants are welcome.

Dates for the 2020 Residency sessions are as follows:

SESSION 1: Friday, June 19—Friday, July 17
SESSION 2: Friday, July 24—Friday, August 21
SESSION 3: Friday, September 4—Friday, October 2

Applications for the 2020 Residency Program must be submitted by February 1, 2020. Admissions Committee decisions will be made in early April and applicants will be notified immediately thereafter. 

Please note that cell phones are not allowed at Blue Mountain Center, and there is an email center but no wireless or email access in the rooms or studios.

Spouses are not included in the invitation, although they may apply separately. Each applicant will be evaluated as an individual. 

Residents are permitted to attend a maximum of two out of every four years.

  •   Activists
  •   Composers
  •   Filmmakers
  •   Visual Artists (Including Photographers)
  •   Writers (Fiction, Nonfiction, Playwriting, Poetry)
