Blue Mountain Center Application for 2025 Residencies 

Blue Mountain Center is a working community of writers, artists, and activists in the heart of Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York.

Dates for the 2025 residency sessions are as follows: 

  • Residency #1 – Friday, June 13 – Friday, July 11
  • Residency #2 – Friday, July 18 – Friday, August 15 
  • Residency #3 – Friday, August 29 – Friday, September 26  

Applications for the 2025 Residency Program will open on December 1, 2024, and must be submitted by 11:59PM PST on February 1, 2025. Admissions Committee decisions will be made in late March and applicants will be notified immediately thereafter. 

Please note that the use of cell phones is prohibited in common spaces at Blue Mountain Center. There is an internet center but no internet access in the rooms or studios.

Spouses are not included in the invitation, although they may apply separately. Each applicant will be evaluated as an individual. 

Residents are permitted to attend a maximum of two out of every four years.

 In 2025, BMC will be accepting applications in the following categories:

  •  Activists
  •  Filmmakers
  •  Visual Artists (Including Photographers)
  •  Writers (Fiction, Nonfiction, Playwriting, Poetry)
  • Composers
  • Audio Storytellers

Application Requirements: 

  1. A biographical sketch including your background, relevant life experiences, and accomplishments. We recommend importing text (copy and paste) from a Word or other document. One to two pages is sufficient.  
  2. A statement of how you will spend your time at Blue Mountain Center. We recommend importing text (copy and paste) from a Word or other document. One to two pages is sufficient. 
  3. A statement sharing your experience/interest in community living with people from diverse backgrounds at Blue Mountain Center. One to two paragraphs is sufficient.
  4. How you heard about BMC, including names of previous BMC residents whom you know, if any.  
  5. A work sample - format dependent on genre.
  6. Session preferences.  
  7. $25 application fee.
